About Olmos Basin Golf Course
Olmos Basin is one of San Antonio's most popular municipal courses, located just north of downtown off Highway 281. Originally designed by George Hoffman and opened in 1963, the course underwent a major renovation in 2021, using the latest in golf course infrastructure. The redesign by Jeffrey D. Blume, ASGCA, was completed in November 2021.
Olmos Basin has hosted numerous Men's and Women's City Amateur Championships. With tree-lined fairways and a creek that winds through many holes, the layout remains a favorite among locals.
Situated in the heart of San Antonio, just north of Brackenridge Park, Olmos Basin offers a fun and accessible experience for all golfers, from beginners to scratch players. The course features long par 3s, reachable par 5s, and a creek that adds challenge throughout. The most difficult hole is the 2nd, a par 4 with a tree-lined, dogleg right that requires a long, uphill approach.
Despite its challenges, Olmos Basin provides plenty of birdie opportunities, especially for those striking the ball well. The greens have lots of undulation, making for an engaging putting experience. With five different tee boxes ranging from 4,878 to 7,038 yards, Olmos Basin accommodates golfers of all skill levels.

Olmos Basin Golf Course is the Alamo City Golf Trail’s most-played course. Its central location and wide-open holes make it a favorite for scratch golfers, while the forgiving layout and multiple tee options ensure that beginners can enjoy the game, too. Still, the narrow, tree-lined fairways demand accurate drives, adding a fun challenge to this championship course.
