First Fairways brings San Antonio high school students onto the course as part of the Alamo City Golf Trail’s commitment to growing the game across the city. From your first swing to your first putt, you’ll be on the course and part of the action, learning the basics and building confidence in a supportive environment designed for new golfers.

Education

Through a partnership with the GCSAA First Green program, First Fairway golfers get a behind-the-scenes look at how golf courses are cared for and maintained across ACGT.

On-Course Experience

ACGT First Fairways is getting new golfers out on the course, giving them the opportunity to practice, play, and apply what they’ve learned on the Teddy Bear Par 3 course.

Community

First Fairways creates a supportive community where new golfers build a lifelong love of golf from the very first swing.

What First Fairway Golfers Will Learn

Throughout the 8-week program, participants will:

  • Learn golf fundamentals in a fun, supportive environment
  • Understand golf rules, etiquette, and sportsmanship
  • Participate in hands-on learning through the GCSAA First Green program
  • Connect with ACGT leadership and staff as mentors
  • Build life skills such as responsibility, teamwork, and confidence
  • Join a nationwide network of golfers through ACGT's partnership with Youth on Course

ACGT First Fairways Scholarship Program

The Alamo City Golf Trail is proud to establish a scholarship program for graduating seniors from the First Fairways program who are pursuing postsecondary education. The scholarship is awarded to two seniors who complete the program and demonstrate a commitment to golf values that go beyond 18 holes: dedication, teamwork, and leadership in their community.

Program Details

When: Tuesdays from 5:00 - 6:45 PM

Dates: March 10 - April 28

What's included: Golf equipment on request, light snacks, and drinks

What to bring: Comfortable athletic clothing, closed-toe shoes, and a water bottle

Safety & Supervision: All sessions are supervised, and First Fairway golfers are introduced to basic safety expectations and course etiquette at the start of the program

Transportation: All participants must have a reliable form of transportation to and from the golf course

Important note: Spots are limited to 15 participants and available on a first-come, first-served basis. A waitlist will be available for those who sign up after the capacity is reached.
